What is ISO 37001?

ISO 37001 i.e. Anti Bribery Management System is an internationally recognized standard that helps organizations to fight against corruption, by establishing a culture of integrity, transparency, and compliance. The Anti Bribery Management System can be used by any organization that is large or small, public or private, and in any part of the country. This is an effective tool, which can be adapted according to the organization’s size, nature, and the risk of bribery it faces.

ISO 37001 addresses one of the world’s most destructive and challenging issues and demonstrates a committed approach to eliminate corruption. This Standard allows organizations of all types to prevent, detect and address bribery by adopting an anti-bribery policy, appointing a person to oversee anti-bribery compliance, training, risk assessments, and due diligence on projects and business associates, implementing financial & commercial controls and instituting reporting & investigation procedures.

ISO 37001 helps organizations to implement reasonable measures to prevent, detect and respond to bribery. This Anti Bribery ISO Standards was developed by ISO technical committee ISO/TC309 and was first published in October 2016. This standard structure consists of 10 clauses, which is similar to ISO 9001:2015 standard and it also adopts concepts such as P-D-C-A cycle, risk-based thinking.

  • ISO 37001 and ISO 19600, which was adopted in 2014, have two significant variances.
